Coffee Extract is high in antioxidants, which help protect skin from free radical damage. This is good news, since antioxidants help fight aging.
Some studies have shown that coffee (specifically coffee oil) has similar effects on the skin as the anti-aging skincare ingredient hyaluronic acid. Coffee seed oil can increase collagen and elastin, making the skin look and feel firmer.
Coffee can also help keep the skin hydrated by reducing transepidermal water loss, (a fancy way of saying the way moisture evaporates from the skin).1
And these qualities aren't just coming from the roasted bean. Extracts made from coffee silverskin (a solid by-product of roasting coffee beans) were shown to have antifungal and antimicrobial qualities, in addition to being a good source of antioxidants.
Several studies have shown spent coffee ground extract helps protect the skin against damage from UV-B rays. So, when included in skincare preparations, the coffee extract may help protect your skin against wrinkle formation and sun damage.
Tetrahydrocurcuminoids CG (THC) is a standardized powdered extract from the roots of the Curcuma longa (Turmeric) plant with skin whitening, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, as well as providing UVB protection. It scavenges and prevents the formation of free radicals. It also inhibits tyrosinase, which inhibits the skin from producing melanin.
